Currently our house is supplied by 12mm everywhere, which as houses in France are all under mains pressure is absolutely fine. You will have to make a connector for your dishwasher as they accept a 20mm connection. In you bathroom you may want to have a bigger connections teeing off to your bath, as this will allow it to fill quicker

May be changing the pipes when . Get round to changing the kitchen, as I like the PEX pipe and not having any joists to freeze during the winter. I havent decided whether to upgrade the size for the washing machine as originally when the pipes were put in by previous owner it was just for a sink.

Middlehart, 1. 12mm (exterior diam) is OK for kitchen sink or hand wash basin. 2. For a washing machine (lave-linge) or a dishwasher (lave-vaisselle) 14mm is preferable. 3. I've installed our shower with 16 and the bathtub with 18mm, the common feed for the bathroom (bath, shower, two hand wash basins, one WC) being 20mm. 4. For longer distances always prefer a bigger diameter, since the pressure loss is dependent upon diameter and length. 4. For some hints concerning water supplies see here. I don't expect you to understand Dutch, but you'll understand the pictures. Similar advices do exist for drain diameters, for some hints see my website. I want to draw your attention to pic.10.2 - 4 , and perhaps you find -7 and -8 interesting.
